Meet the Awkward Critters

The Awkward Critters standing together.

📘 About the Series

Awkward Critters is a warm, illustrated children’s series that helps kids build confidence, empathy, and resilience through social‑emotional learning (SEL). Each book follows a different friend—like Raven the black fox or Finn the firefly—as they navigate big feelings, friendship, and belonging. The stories are crafted for K–6 classrooms, school counselors, and families who want inclusive stories that spark meaningful conversations about identity, kindness, grief, anxiety, and courage.

Beyond the books, this website is your hub for teacher curriculum, printable worksheets, discussion questions, writing prompts, coloring pages, and classroom activities that connect directly to each story. Everything is designed to support character education, mental wellness, bullying prevention, and home–school connection—so readers can practice skills they’ll use in real life.
